Time to convert your Bitcoin Cash (BCH)

September 26, 2017

You’ve probably been wondering what to do with the BCH (Bitcoin Cash) that were generated in your Xapo account after the last Bitcoin fork of August 1st.

Let’s rewind a little bit. On Tuesday, August 1st at 1:16 pm UTC, the Bitcoin network experienced a fork which split the blockchain into two separate blockchains. This event marked the birth of a new digital asset called “Bitcoin Cash”.

For you, this meant that if you had bitcoins (BTC) in Xapo at the time of the fork, you now have your bitcoins and an equal amount of Bitcoin Cash (BCH).

You can read more about the fork and Xapo’s position in our fork update blog here.

Now back to what you can do with the BCH generated in your BCH Wallet. We have made it easy and convenient for our users to convert BCH to BTC. This means you can NOW convert the total balance of your BCH Wallet to your BTC Wallet with only one transaction and one click away. Keep in mind that the company will not support BCH after December 14th and you will only be able to convert the total balance of your BCH to BTC before that date.

If you would like to keep your BCH you will not be able to do so within Xapo but you can withdraw the total balance of BCH and send it to a valid external BCH  account before December 14th.

Whether you convert now and keep your BCH in Xapo as BTC or you withdraw them, December 14th would be the deadline. Visit our FAQ section to find out how to convert your BCH, step by step.
